The Space We Return To

There is a space I often find myself entering during Reiki — a quiet inner place that feels both deeply familiar and, at the same time, entirely new.

It is not something I actively seek, nor something I need to construct. Rather, it seems to emerge on its own, the moment I begin to soften and allow the session to unfold. Whether I am in self-practice or receiving Reiki from someone else, the movement into this space follows a similar rhythm each time — subtle, unforced, and quietly revealing.

At the beginning, there is usually a gentle transition. The breath deepens almost on its own. The body begins to settle. The mind, which may have been engaged or restless just moments before, gradually loses its urgency. Thoughts may still arise, but they no longer carry the same weight. Something in the system begins to reorganise itself, without effort or direction.

As attention turns inward, the outer world recedes into the background. Sounds, sensations, and impressions remain, but they no longer ask to be followed. Instead, awareness becomes more attuned to what is happening within — to the more delicate layers of experience that are often overlooked in the movement of daily life.

There is a quiet noticing of inner sensations. Subtle shifts. Almost imperceptible currents of energy moving through the body. It is not dramatic, and it does not ask to be interpreted. If anything, it invites the opposite — a kind of listening without analysis.

In this space, I often sense what I can only describe as the body’s own intelligence at work. A natural, self-organising process that does not depend on my intervention. The more I allow this to happen, the more apparent it becomes that there is nothing I need to do to support it. The system already knows how to move towards balance.

As the session continues, even this layer of noticing begins to quiet.

The attention that was gently resting on sensations, movements, and inner processes starts to soften further. And sometimes, without any clear transition, even that dissolves.

A calm meditation space to reconnect with breath, body, and inner stillness.
A calm meditation space to reconnect with breath, body, and inner stillness.

What remains is a simple, grounded stillness.

Not a stillness that feels empty, but one that is quietly full. A presence that does not need to be maintained. A state of being that is neither created nor achieved, but revealed when everything else falls away.

There is nothing to fix here.

Nothing to understand.

Nothing to hold on to.

Only a sense of being — unoccupied, unforced, and complete in itself.

For me, this is where Reiki begins to feel less like a practice and more like a returning.

A returning to a state that exists prior to effort.

A softening of the layers that keep us engaged in constant doing.

A remembering of something essential that is often obscured, but never absent.

This experience has gradually shaped the way I understand Reiki. Not as something we “do” in order to reach a certain outcome, but as a space we allow ourselves to enter — a space in which the system can recalibrate, settle, and reveal its own natural coherence.

And this is the space I love to hold through Healing.Barcelona — a place to pause, to reconnect, to remember what is already whole within you.

Not as a method, and not as something to strive towards, but as an invitation.

An invitation to pause.

To turn inward.

To reconnect with what is already here.

There is nothing you need to achieve in this space. Nothing you need to improve or change. The depth of the experience does not come from effort, but from the willingness to let go of it.

In the midst of a life that often moves quickly and asks for constant attention, this becomes something quietly radical — to simply stop, to listen, and to be.

A small sanctuary, held in the middle of everything.

A place where you can return, again and again.

And over time, perhaps, not as a place you visit — but as something you begin to recognise as your own ground.

A destination for stillness.
